Secunia Software Inspector

tip from Mike at Carputers.net, Dec 2006, permalink _ Security Tools

From Mike:

This is a neat vulnerability assessment tool. I keep pretty up-to-date, but it found an outdated flash.ocx file on one of my systems that was not removed during an upgrade.

I would recommend running it periodically as another means of making sure your system is as up-to-date as possible.

Secunia is well-known and well-respected in IT (as I am sure you are aware) for their work in identifying and issuing advisories on viruses and vulnerabilities.

More on what the Software Inspector does and how it works can be found here.

Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Mike

Wow, Thanks Mike!

I tried it and look at all the old vulnerable software it found on my laptop. Looks like I've got some work to do.
