DTaskManager - one Task Manager to rule them all

review from ClifNotes, Sept 2006, permalink

Recently, Richard W wrote in with a tip on some very nice utilities from a Italian guy named Dimio.

From Richard:

Nice little standalone applications, which might be of interest

DShutdown is a stand-alone program that allows you to easily shutdown local or remote PCs, with many specific options.

DSynchronize is a stand-alone utility that let you periodically synchronize two or more folders on Hard Disk, Floppy Disk, LAN, USB Key, CD-DVD (with packet writing software) and FTP server.

DTaskManager, obviously, is a Task-Manager, but specifically engineered to give additional functionalities that the Windows bundled TaskManager (and other third party products) do not have:

Notes from Clif
I wasn't interested in most of the apps that Dimio has there, but I did chose to download and run the DTaskManager program, and I'm glad I did. The author's description, "additional functionalities" doesn't do this fantastic program justice.

Here's what I found briefly, after a couple of tries.

  • View applications (stuff you are running)
  • View Processes (anything running)
  • View Peformance (PC's memory and CPU)
  • View Ports (what appications are connected to the internet)
  • View Network (what PC's and devices are on my network)
This little utility will replace two separate programs I've been running. It can even be set up as a replacement for Windows Task Manager when you hit the CTRL-ALT-DEL buttons because there isn't anything in it that DTaskManger can't do better.

Thank you Richard, for writing in. Thank you Dimio, for writing this program.
