I tried this app launcher out briefly and I was impressed. I like the easy setup, the fact that it's portable and the very nice look and feel. If you need a portable application launcher for your flash drive utilites, or even one to replace the dumb Windows Start button, this is a good choice.

Muziic Player is a nice way to listen to and play music videos from YouTube. I happened to run across it while playing with some of the virtualized apps at Xenocode.com.
Muziic Player puts millions of songs right on your desktop, free and legally. Interested?
To use Muziic Player, simply type the name of the song or artist you wish to hear into the player's search bar. Muziic then searches and returns the most relevant results from the world's largest music database - YouTube.
While traditional media players only allow you to import and play music from your own collection, Muziic Player streams all of your favorite songs directly to you, 100% free and legally. Through YouTube's state of the art Content ID recognition system, major record labels are fully compensated for each song play.
I can recall when these games arrived on the scene. Doom first appeared in 1993 and DOS was the operating system. These games were that made FPS (first person shooter) games popular. I was never a big fan of Doom, but I remember playing Hexen for hours.
Some mad hacker has ported these games into Flash 10 so that you can play them in your web browser. These are the old games so you won't be impressed with the graphics, but you could sure waste some time on them if you feel they offer a challenge.
Be sure to read about the control key settings below before you fire them up. I didn't read them and died very quickly the first round.

Here's a good tip for those who use the phone at home all the time. This may not work with a cell phone and you'll need to have a computer on all the time.
A tip from Tiffany:
Phone Tray is the best caller ID available anywhere, and it's free! Hear who's calling from across the room as your computer speaks the name and number of caller. You can set it to block and reject sales calls, use specialized rings for different people, not ring between certain hours (if you want to sleep in late) and customize it to your heart's content. Phone Tray is one handy little helper no one should be without!
PhoneTray can automatically 'zap' telemarketers with a special 'number disconnected' tone. After receiving this tone telemarketer's computer will delete your number from its database. The program can play Federal 'do-not-call' warning forcing telemarketers to remove you from their calling lists - by law!
It’s hard to beat simple online file hosting services … until you start looking at the features that come bundled with them.
Drop.io (pronounced drop-ee-oh) has a free file hosting service that literally has everything but the kitchen sink. They offer file hosting with a multitude of collaboration options like commenting, live chat, conference calls, voice mail, guest permissions, RSS feeds and email. Now they are offering a nice Firefox Plugin that lets you drop your files into their service with ease. Dropio is awesome … and the basic free service allows you to host 100mb in each drop. See this screenshot of the admin page for a drop and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
See the video below for a demo of the Firefox plugin.
Here’s a short description from the dropio folks …
Drag & drop your files directly into Drop.io drops!
A drop is a chunk of space you can use to store and share anything privately (pictures, videos, audio, documents, etc.), without accounts, registration, or an email address. Drops are not "searchable" and not "networked;" they just exist online as private points for exchange between individuals or groups.
Create as many drops as you want in as little as two clicks and set things like a password, whether others can add to the drop, and how long you want it to exist (you can renew later). Drops can be flexibly used in a range of ways from sharing family photos and videos to collaborating on group projects.

I have not tried this service yet, but I've got it bookmarked as a good alternative to loading an OCR (optical character recongnition) program. More online office tools are always welcome in my little world.

Free-OCR.com is a free online OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool. You can use this to perform OCR on any image you supply.
This service is free, no registration necessary. We also do not need your email address. Just upload your image files. Free-OCR takes either PDF, JPG, GIF, TIFF, BMP or PNG format. The only restriction is that the images must not be larger than 2MB, no wider or higher than 5000 pixels and there is a limit of 10 image uploads per hour.
While I was trying out a new Firefox plugin called Image Transloader, I noticed that it defaults to uploading images to an image host called Phyrefile. This is a free image hosting service and I'm more than happy to offer them a bit of free advertising here.
If you need to send a collection of your family pictures to your cousin in Timbuktu, this is a very simple and clean way to keep from flooding his inbox with a huge download. All you have to do is send your cousin an email with links to the images.

Wow! Almost 1000 people and still growing! I invite all of you to record your locations on this map. You can include as little or as much information as you wish. I think you'll enjoy seeing yourself there.
Here's a small look at my frapper map.
Get Gmail! and Get Firefox!
You need a free 7 GB Gmail account to access many of the cool features at Google. After more than two years in beta testing Gmail is open to the public. Just go to http://gmail.com and sign up for an account.
I think Gmail works best in the awesome Firefox browser. It's free, easy to use, and it's way more secure than Internet Explorer. My favorite thing to do is to customize Firefox so that it does much more than IE ever could. You can select new button controls for your toolbars, install extensions to add new features, or change the look of your browser with themes - the way Firefox looks and works is under your control.
I get many of the reviews in the newsletter from the readers. You don't have to be a genius or computer guru. Just answer a few questions and send me a review. I'll probably put you in the newsletter.
